Post Anyone got any simple studies?

Hi all. I was wondering, if anyone can think of one, can someone point me to a simple GE safety and/or output study? I’m taking my intro to biology class this summer (summer class so I can do the cool plant biotech class in the spring [unless I go as bonkers as next year's schedule is looking :) ]), a little late since I spent the past few semesters focusing on my primary major, but anyway. The class’s lab portion ends with a project about investigating something, producing a conclusion, and making a presentation on some site called Voice Thread. Naturally, I chose genetic engineering. It be all I know. The graders of the labs seem to have a thing for charts & graphs, so I was thinking on seeing if there was anything with good raw numbers I could use. You know, maybe something like one of those rat organ feeding trials or something involving output on trial plots or just something simple and easy to put together and talk about. Nothing fancy, just some numbers for a control & treatment to make a p-value and a pretty graph.

If no one can think of one like that off the top of their heads, no problem, I don’t need it, heck, I could just slap together some of the posts I’ve written on some other sites, include the citations, and the script about writes itself. Just thought I’d ask, see if anything like this came to mind for anyone.

Thanks.

There’s a great study about feeding Bt corn to dairy cows that you can find here: http://www.biofortified.org/genera/long-term-cow-feeding-study-with-bt-corn/

It was really well done, with more than adequate controls and lots of nice charts :)

Oh cool, thanks, that works good. I stuck it in. Anyone who cares to listen to me trying to pass of my stream of consciousness ramblings as actual classwork can hear it here: http://voicethread.com/share/1256770 (I just spent 15 minutes editing this thing trying to get it to link on the word ‘here’. Picky board.) It didn’t turn out too great I think, since I had a 5 minute time limit (could have made an intro that long), and couldn’t use my microphone too much so I just kinda winged it and I found some dumb mistakes that got left in. Oh well.

Made me think, it would be kind of neat if someone who actually knows their stuff make an info video thingy. Have you guys ever considered making something like that? I imagine some of the comments you’d get on Youtube would be pretty brain atrophying (anyone ever seen some of the comments on any Youtube video about GMOs? Wowzers), but it might still be cool to have a video of standard talking points you can show to people.
